Summer in the South

Heat. Sticky, muggy heat. 88 degrees and it's only the middle of May, heat. Everything moves more slowly, in the heat.

Traffic crawls- "Come on, Harvey baby, Mommy promises she'll get you gas after work if you'll just get me off this interstate."

Minds begin to fry- "Where was I supposed to turn? Oh, wait I'm going the wrong way. OK, I'm turning around. Now I'm going the right way. But where am I going again?"

Training stretches out indeterminably-"Wait, this was only supposed to be half an hour. So why is it 3 already? I don't have an attention span anymore....Hey, I'm going to miss my show...Oh, this product lightens and brightens, fascinating....What time does the library close?...Wait, we're still here?"

The sun's rays are having their cruel effect- "It was 88 three hours ago. Now it's 96. Well, at least Bath and Body Works's A.C. is working." "It feels good out here. It's cold inside." "Are you insane?"

And, you are welcome to join me here in this heat it will be 100 by Sunday! As we say here when people complain about being hot..."at least it is a dry heat"
Though to me 100 is still pretty darn hot, even if it isn't muggy!

This is where I get to say something mean. Although it did dip below freezing a few nights this past week, the days have been VERY comfortable. Today it's suppose to be about 65, sunny, probably some afternoon thunderstorms, but very nice. So while I'm standing outside this afternoon at #3's school field day, I'll think of you.

Don't complain about the heat too much. Here in upstate NY we'd love some of that. Actually, we'd just love some consistency. Two days ago, highs at 80. Last night, frost advisory. Tomorrow, rain and 50's. Tried to find a place to file a complaint using google... no luck. Apparently the weather controlling party isn't taking complaints.

Went to B&BW to get a little gift basket for the wife for Mother's Day, and guess what (What?) there were no Cherry Blossom gift baskets. I tell you, the person trying to sell me the Sweat Pea was very persistent but I did not give in. So I settled for the Coconut Lime Verbana and Black Raspberry Vanilla. Hope I did good.

Nettie,
Will you relocate to a colder place after you graduate from school?

I agree on handling the heat better. I'm a wimp when it comes to the cold!

I really wish I could have some of that heat. It's just too cool out here for me. I am always cold and the summer just seems to revitalize me.
